HEATH 1sts HARD WORK REWARDED

Abbey Rangers 0 Haywards Heath Town 4 ( George Thomas, Natalie Trend, Karen Bridgewater, Mica Saunders) - 3rd Sept 2006

On a good surface but with a gale force wind blowing across the pitch, Heath kicked off the new season with a very impressive win against Abbey Rangers. Heath took the lead in the 8th minute when from a through ball from Alison Field, George Thomas shrugged off two defenders to force the ball home. The remainder of the half was played at a fast pace with chances at both ends but Heath's defence of Michelle Winnard, Captain Penny Gittins, Debbie Johnson [on her 1st Team debut] and Alison Field remained cool and calm. At the other end a snap shot from Lou Creasey flew just wide.

In the second half Heath got on top and deservedly went ahead with an excellent team goal. Fine work from Field and Karen Bridgewater put Natalie Trend in the clear and she made no mistake. Within seven minutes, Heath were three up when after an excellent passing movement involving Thomas, Winnard and Trend the ball reached Bridgewater who fired an unstoppable shot past the keeper. Player Coach Keveena Mosen then made way for Mica Saunders who made some excellent runs before she was sent away by Lou Creasey and finished clinically for the fourth. Eve Todhunter came on for the final fifteen minutes and Heath played out time for a fine win. Player of the match was given to Claire Imray who made some fine saves in the first half; but all thirteen players made an outstanding contribution for an excellent team victory.

This was Heaths 1st best League win for at least 3 seasons and was a reward for all the hard work put in over the close season . With at least 5 players unavailable for consideration 1st Team Manager will have the problem all managers like with an abundance of players eager to be in the 1st team .
