HEATH SEE MANY POSITIVES
Haywards Heath Town 0 Crowborough 3 - 10th Sept 2006
Heath knew it would be a difficult game against a Club two divisions above them, but went out of the FA Cup with their heads held high after a pulsating game that had no less than 13 minutes injury time at the end of the game. In the boiling sun Heath started confidently but in the 5th minute from a corner were caught by a deft flick at the near post to go one down. Heath went two down soon afterwards from a good through ball and the Borough striker scored well despite keeper Clair Imrays valiant dash out to intercept . Heath however did not let their heads drop and for the remainder of the half fought gamely to go in just two down. George Thomas and Keveena Mosen were involved in a good move and Natalie Trend had a chance to score whilst Imray saved well to keep Heath in the game
Heath tightened up the midfield considerably in the second half and had much more of the play, and started to create problems to the Borough back line. Mica Saunders replaced the injured Thomas with less than 10 mins of the 2nd half gone and nearly made an immediate impact, showing great anticipation to nearly intercept a sloppy backpass by Crowborough defence. Michelle Winnard then sustained an injury and was replaced by Eve Todhunter Saunders particularly showed her pace and started to cause problems for the Borough defence. The speedy Fran Pritlove was introduced up front for the last 15 minutes, replacing the experienced Mosen but Heath were unable to penetrate Crowboroughs defence .
Heath continued to have the better of the exchanges however deep into injury time Borough broke away and scored a third goal which did not reflect Heath's good work in the second half.
There were excellent performances all over the pitch but special mention should go to Karen Bridgewater and Lou Creasey with substitutes Todhunter and Saunders making an influential contribution on their introduction.
For 75 mins Heath had held a determined Crowborough side from the London & South East Regional League which augers well for the season ahead
