South East Counties Womens Football League – Premier Div - Oct 16th 2005
Haywards Heath Town 0 UKP 6
Kent side UKP from Sittingbourne came to Heath with a 100% League record in the Premier Div and left having demonstrated why this is so. There is no doubt that on the day they were quicker to the ball than Heath and showed more aggression and determination against a Heath side that was missing quite a few regular 1st team players.
UKP attacked from the start and keeper Celia Huggett, in only her 2nd game for the Club, having played for the 2nds two weeks earlier, was very quickly in action for her new club. With just over ¼ hr gone UKP went ahead after Huggett had blocked two shots, Heath having lost possession on the halfway line. Heath did have their chances with Yoli Rietmann lobbing wide and then shooting wide following a good run by Heaths player of the match Leigh Farley with Keveena Mosen supplying the final pass. A poor back header to her keeper by a UKP defender was scrambled away, whilst at the other end UKP rattled Heaths crossbar before scoring their second minutes before halftime.
In the 2nd half UKP carried on as before and it required good saves by Huggett to prevent a 3rd before, with Heaths defence in disarray, UKP went further ahead. UKP’s fast forward line was giving the Heaths defence plenty of work and with some accurate shooting the final scoreline was 0-6 whilst for Heath Del Cook nearly scored a consolation goal when her shot hit the crossbar. There is no doubt that UKP are the best side Heath have played in the League so far and it would be no surprise to see them finish as League Champions. To their credit Heath battled to the end despite many players carrying injuries and it was pleasing to see that keeper Huggett will be an asset to the Club. .
