South East Counties Womens Football League - Div 1[W]

Rottingdean 2 Haywards Heath Town 0 - 16th Dec 2007

Despite having 8 of the 1st team squad unavailable and several players carrying injuries Heath showed their strength in depth and were competitive all match against a Rottingdean side determined to retain their 100% home record and remain the league's only unbeaten side, having dropped only 2 pts all season .

Playing five across the middle, Heath tried to keep a tight defensive line, but conceded after 15 minutes to put them under immediate pressure. However Heath responded in their usual dogged fashion and created some openings for player of the match, Jo Ashworth who caused problems to the Rottingdean defence all afternoon.

Heath went in at half time feeling they could get something out of the game and were indebted to Claire Imray in goal for some fine saves. Heath however went two down on 47 minutes despite a fantastic effort from Imray to keep the ball out.

Heath fought hard and were unfortunate not to reduce the arrears during a very competitive second half. This was a fine display from Heath who now go with confidence into the Christmas and New Year break which will give injured players extra time to recover.
