Lindfield 4 Haywards Heath Town 0 - 17th Feb 2008
For the 2nd week running Heaths defensive plans were thrown into disarray due to injury, last week an injury during the prematch warm-up results in a defensive re-organisation, this week key defender and Captain Julie Hawthorne struggled almost from the k/o as her back started to give problems and had to go off after less than 20 mins. However during the early stages both Caz Walters & Jo Ashworth had chances to put Heath ahead although Heaths keeper Celia Huggett was often in action against Lindfield's speedy forwards. With less than 10 mins of the half remaining Lindfield went ahead following a corner , but. Heath had their chance to level the scores through Walters whilst Ashworth saw her shot cleared off the line by a Lindfield defender.
Early in the 2nd half Lindfield scored their 2nd as a blocked ball fell kindly for the Lindfield attacker who finished with a well judged lob . With Heath still reeling from this stroke of bad fortune minutes later Lindfield broke through to make it 3 - 0. Heath brought on defender Jo Fairbairn for her 1st Team debut and finally forward Ella Kenny came on up front to give the Lindfield defence plenty to think about . However, after such superb display last week Heath players came off knowing that "football is a funny old game" and not able to put their finger on why their performance was below what they can achieve, defender Debbie Johnson was Heaths Player of the match .
