Sussex County FA Womens Challenge Cup – ¼ Final
Rottingdean 4 Haywards Heath Town 1 (Jo Ashworth) - 18th Nov 2007
Heath arrived at Rottingdean for this quarter final of the Sussex County FA Challenge Cup in appalling weather conditions on Sunday ; cold, rain and gale force winds making it difficult for everyone . Rottingdean were first into their stride, and Heath found themselves two goals down, from some excellent finishing, within the 1st 20 mins. Heath battled gamely however and reduced the arrears when Jo Ashworth hit an excellent shot into the corner of the net right on halftime.
Heath were shocked to concede two goals soon after the restart , and with Mel Bramley going off with a head injury and Eve Todhunter with an ankle injury , it became very difficult to make an impact. However they prevented any further scoring and were were excellently led by stand-in captain Lou Creasey , and also some fine goalkeeping from Celia Huggett.
Team: Celia Huggett; Eve Todhunter [Kate Anscombe 79 mins] ; Debbie Johnson; Lou Creasey (capt.); Karen Bridgewater; Fran Pritlove; Cath Diffey; Mel Bramley [Michelle Winnard 60 mins]; Donna Onslow ; Mica Saunders; Jo Ashworth.
