Dover 2 Haywards Heath Town 1 (Fran Pritlove) - 19th March 2006

Heath Firsts made the long trip to Dover with several regulars missing due to injury and work commitments, but gave a spirited performance, continuing their recent improvement despite losing. Heath withstood the early Dover pressure with Vicki Lank strong in the Heath goal. Kim Donno returning after injury raced through and hit a beautiful shot just over the bar. In the 15th minute Heath then got a free kick which was quickly taken by Catherine Diffey, the ball falling to Fran Pritlove who struck a superb half volley from the edge of the area into the bottom corner of the net. Dover came back and after some pressure Heath conceded an equaliser in the 25th minute and then five minutes later a deft flicked header resulted in Heath going 2-1 down.
Heath continued to fight hard in the second half and shots from Leigh Farley and Fran Pritlove went close. Heath at times had to withstand strong Dover pressure and coped well with Michelle Winnard heading a cross/shot off the line. There were excellent performances all over the pitch, but particularly from “player of the match” Rebecca Smallman in only her 2nd outing for the 1sts this season and from Fran Pritlove, also more often with the 2nds, Catherine Diffey and Kim Strong.
