HEATH HIT JACKPOT !!
Jo Ashworth records hattrick against Horley home & away !!
Haywards Heath Town 14 (Mel Bramley 4, Jo Ashworth 3, Caz Walters 2, Lou Creasey, Fran Pritlove, Donna Onslow, Mel Conniff, 1 og.) Horley Town Res 0 - 24th Feb 2008
Heath 1sts bounced back from their disappointing display last week to record their highest win for many seasons, inflicting on Horley the highest score in Div 1[W] this season on their way to completing the double with Jo Ashworth having the rare distinction of scoring a hat trick against the same team in home and away fixtures.
Heath had a field day against an understrength but nevertheless committed Horley team who never allowed their heads to drop despite the score line. Heath wanted to put last week's display behind them and were quickly on top and giving the Horley defence plenty to think about. It took just 12 mins for Heath to go ahead when one of many fine runs by Fran Pritlove enabled Jo Ashworth to slot the ball home from a well judged cross. . Mel Bramley saw her shot cleared off the line before Louise Creasey scored from a narrow angle from a Donna Onslow cross. By half time, Heath were seven goals up through Mel Bramley, a rare Donna Onslow goal following a Michelle Winnard run, Fran Pritlove and Ashworth completing her hat-trick, her 2nd goal resulting by her running onto the ball from inside her own half from Captain Julie Hawthornes free kick.
Two substitutions were made at half time, and a final one midway through the half to allow all members of the squad to have a run out and the goals continued to come from all parts of the field with player of the match Bramley scoring three more, Caz Walters two and the final goal coming from Mel Conniff on her first 1st team outing of the season against a previous Club of hers.
This was a fine performance against a team just one position below in the table , with the defence relishing the chance to make occasional forays forward and midfield & attack playing much creative football, and Heath now look forward to their game at Upper Beeding next Sunday with confidence.
