The FA WOMEN’S CUP in partnership with Nationwide

Slough LFC 5 Haywards Heath Town LFC 0 - 25th Sept 2005

The long drive to Slough ended in disappointment for Heath when they were beaten by a well organized Slough team in this FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round. For the second match running Heath were without a recognized goalkeeper due to unavoidable work commitments. However Kim Strong stood in willingly and gave a good performance. Heath however started poorly and conceded an early goal with some poor marking. Although the team tried valiantly to keep the speedy Slough players at bay, they conceded a further goal just before half time. Changes were made at half time to the formation which allowed Heath to come more into the game and for thirty minutes the team was much more competitive. It was obvious that the next goal would be decisive and unfortunately it went to Slough and they managed to score a further two goals as Heath tired. Even in defeat there were some good performances, particularly from the front two of Jenny Greenfield and Natalie Bagwell who never stopped running and Karen Bridgewater (Manager's Player of the Match) who continues to improve.
Team: Kim Strong; Dawn Gaston (Michelle Winnard 45); Kim Donno; Penny Gittins; George Thomas (Del Cook 45); Mel Bramley; Catherine Diffey (Emma Birkett 85); Leigh Farley; Karen Bridgewater; Jenny Greenfield; Natalie Bagwell.
