HEATH GAIN VALUABLE POINT

Rottingdean 2 Haywards Heath 2 (Karen Bridgewater, Fran Pritlove)- 29th Oct 2006

Heath really showed their commitment to the cause in a stirring game at Rottingdean and came away with a well deserved point. The game started with both teams pushing forward in search of the early goal. Heath forced three early corners and nearly scored when a snap shot from Karen Bridgewater was pushed over the bar. At the other end, Kelly Lambert was in fine form with some excellent saves. However it was Rottingdean who scored first from a quickly taken short corner. Heath however equalised when Bridgewater scored with a fine shot from an acute angle. Heath's tackling was ferocious especially from player of the match, Lou Creasey. Unfortunately Lambert injured her back making a save, and was forced to leave the pitch just after half time. It was Creasey who " volunteered" to go in goal and she regretfully had to pick the ball out of the net within five minutes. Heath, however, started to settle again after many positional changes and again started to get penetrate the Rottingdean defence and create some excellent chances. Finally Fran Pritlove shot Heath's equaliser and it was Heath who were going forward in search of the winner at the final whistle. Heath's workrate, effort and commitment from the keepers, defence, midfield and strikers was outstanding. The manager felt that the whole team deserved the player of the match award!
