Eastbourne Borough 3 Haywards Heath Town 1(Mica Saunders) - 30th Sept 2007
Heath went to Eastbourne for their FA Cup game against Premier Div side opposition full of confidence to continue their fine start to the season. They had a setback when goalkeeper Rachel Virgo dislocated a finger in the warm up, but she managed to start after putting it back herself! After some early exchanges, Heath went ahead when a shot from Mica Saunders squeezed in at the far post. There were opportunities for both sides with Jo Ashworth prominent for Heath but Borough equalised with a smart header direct from a corner. The half finished at 1-1 and Heath hopeful of going on to win the game.
In the second half Heath should have gone ahead when Saunders' shot towards an empty net rolled against the post and stopped on the line! This proved to be the turning point as Borough came more and more into the game and further goals from their two strikers came despite some outstanding goalkeeping from Virgo.
Despite this result Heath 1sts can be very pleased with their start to the season having won all other games.
