Littlehampton 8 Haywards Heath Town 2 [Leigh Farley, Karen Bridgewater ]
With problems finding the ground , defender Kim Strong arriving 5 mins after k/o, and others much later than planned , plus midfielder Leigh Farley obviously unwell , Heath were ill prepared against Littlehampton. The match started at a high tempo with the hosts going close in the 1st minute, Leigh Farley scored for Heath in the 4th minute after rounding 3 players and shooting into the corner. Heath kept the lead for some 10 mins before conceding 2 very sloppy goals due to poor marking. At 2-1 Heath matched them for 20 mins both sides having chances, but in the 8 mins before half time 4 goals including a penalty were conceded to go in 6-1 down.
In the 2nd half the formation was changed to 3-4-3 and subs Cath Diffy and Kim Strong brought on and although Littlehampton scored two to Heaths one the half was fairly evenly contested, Heaths goal coming from 25 yards by Karen Bridgewater. Keeper Vicky Lank was Heaths “Player of the match” making several excellent saves including twice at the feet of attacking players.
