Haywards Heath Town 2nds 1 [Jo Stevenson] Henfield 7 - 2nd March 2008
It was most unfortunate that having previously been given a free Sunday on 2nd March for a Club social event on the Saturday evening , recent postponement of games due to the weather meant that the game was rescheduled , and as all will know, the best preparation for a game is not for most players to have a very late night. To make matters even worse Heaths Keeper Celia Huggett who was gallantly playing with stitches in her leg found they had burst after just ten minutes, making it very difficult for her and limited her hugely, resulting in Henfield scoring goals that normally would have been easy for her to save. Heaths “Player of the Match “ was jointly Celia Huggett & Julie Boyce.
It was evident that Henfield , managed by an ex Manager from Heath, had “pulled out all the stops” and fielded a far stronger team than that defeated 4-0 the previous week . All in all, a game which one normally would have expected to have been a close encounter turned out to be anything but. It was unfortunate that at the start of the season Heath were awarded the game as Henfield had insufficient signed players, so Heath were not able to show Henfield how well they can perform.
