Haywards Heath 2nds 0 Langton Green 8 - 6th Jan 2008
Another result that doesn’t reflect the performance of the 2nds.
With a very wet pitch and lack of match fitness Heath had an uphill battle before the game began against a team just 2 points off the lead with a game in hand .
Langton were quick out of the blocks and caught Heaths defence off guard to quickly go 1-0 up. Heath put some good passes together but 2 more quick attacks from Langton added 2 more goals to the score sheet. Keeper Celia Huggett played her heart out and never gave up, along with Managers Player of the Match captain Gemma Paull who had the performance of the season playing in central midfield. The rest of the team worked well, but unfortunately Langton managed to squeeze in 2 more goals before half time.
During the break Nat Trend replaced Carly Vaughan and 5 minutes into the 2nd half Jo d’Ambra replaced Jo Stevenson. Heath made some good progress forward but couldn’t manage to put the ball in the net, whereas Langton put another 3 in ours.
From this game the positives have to be taken and worked on, and next weeks game against Whitehawk Res in the cup will be another step forward in us gaining match fitness for our up and coming league game with Henfield.
