South East Counties Womens Football League - Div 1[W] - 11th Sept 2005
Woking Reserves 2 Haywards Heath 2nds 0

Woking are a very good side and will do well this season playing at this level, they proved to be a young and fit side. They applied early pressure to the Heaths defence which led Mica Saunders having to make an excellent clearance off the line as Keeper Nikki Whatford was clearly beaten. In the next 10 minutes keeper Whatford had to make two diving saves to keep Heath in this game. This seemed to spur on the Heath who started to break down Wokings play and the game turned scrappy with neither sides dominating or creating any chances. This carried on until the 40th minute when Heath won a free kick just outside the box, this was taken by Keveena Mosen who played the ball into the box to Louise Rice who headed it down and took a shot the defender managed to get a toe on the ball which took all the power off the shot and the keeper collected it in easily. The only other action was right at the end of the half when another superb diving save was made by the keeper Whatford.

The second half started with Woking creating most of the chances they appeared to be the side with more enthusiasm and determination to win the game the only thing they seemed to lack was finishing. On the 50th minute Francesca Pritlove was bought on adding a fresh pair of legs to the midfield who had covered a lot of ground due to the pitch being very wide and Woking being the home team taking advantage of this width, this seemed to liven up Heath as Pritlove made some good runs and passes down the right wing. This created a chance for Mica Saunders as a ball was played in from the right to the back post Saunders placed the strike just wide of the post. Unfortunately this still did not create any chances for the strikers Yoli Rietmann and Natalie Trend. On the 80th minute the inevitable happened and Woking scored getting in behind the defence who had been run ragged for most of the half. From the restart Woking won a corner playing a good ball into the box which was only partially cleared by the defence resulting in an excellent shot from outside the box making it 2 - 0 on the 85th minute. In the dying minutes of the game Heath had one good attack with Jo Davies running through the Woking defence and passing the ball to Trend who made the Woking keeper make a double save.
At full time Sarah Miller Heaths manager spoke about wanting to win the game and how players need to show more desire and hunger to achieve an end result, here's to hoping to see a marked improvement next week with the team putting up more of a fight.
