Sussex County Women & Girls Football League - Supplementary Trophy
Heath reach Supplementary Trophy final with goal from keeper Field !!!
Haywards Heath Town 2nds 2 [Keveena Mosen, Alison Field] Littlehampton 2nds 1 - 13th April 2008
Heath suffered a setback before the kick-off when Jo d’Ambra had to withdraw before the start with hamstring problems in a match which would determine who reached the final, Littlehampton realistically requiring just a point whilst Heath needed to win by a better margin than Adur Athletic in their game against Seahaven.
Heath did well in the first half, with the wind and the slope against them, to contain the young Littlehampton side although they had their chance to go ahead with Carly Vaughan , and Kim Donno going close, with Donna Onslow being creative up front, whilst in centre of the defence the experienced Keveena Mosen dealt authoritively with many high balls, playing arguably her best game for quite. Just when it seemed as though the solid back four of Karen Bridgewater, Dawn Gaston (captain), Mosen and Jo Fairbairn, in front of keeper Alison Field , who was playing confidently, would enable Heath to finish the half on level terms Littlehampton sent in a high ball which despite Fields best efforts crept in just under the bar , a cruel blow in virtually the last kick of the half .
After the half time talk , and with the wind and slope now in their favour Heath were much more in command and Mosen and Caz Walters went close before, with 20 mins gone Heath drew level thorough
Mosen who’s shot from outside the area went in just inside the post. With Littlehampton now rattled Heath applied pressure but their winning goal came from an unexpected quarter, keeper Field rushing far out of her goal to intercept a through ball, and seeing her high powerful kick enter the goal with Kim Donno distracting keeper and defenders!!
Heath had chances to add to their score through Nat Trend, Bridgewater and Walters but had to endure a worrying last 5 mins before the final whistle. Heaths joint “Managers Player of the Match” were Mosen and Walters.
Following the final whistle there was a worrying time before Heath discovered that Adur were unable to fulfil their fixture, so confirming Heaths place in the 2 legged final against Tunbridge Wells based Langton Green
