Sussex County FA Challenge Trophy – Rnd 2

Crawley Down 4 Haywards Heath Town 2nds 0 - 19th Nov 2006

Heath 2nds never recovered from conceding 2 goals in the opening 5 minutes, the first being scored without a Heath player touching the ball with just 20 secs on the clock. Celia Huggett in Heaths goal was kept busy and made some excellent saves with Crawley Down having most of the play . With 15 mins of the 1st half remaining Sam Coppard sustained an injury and was replaced by Julie Hawthorne in Heaths defence and Heath were pleased to have held Down for 40 mins.
Manager Sarah Miller altered the formation for the 2nd half and brought Debbie Johnson on for Julie Boyce but within minutes Heath went further behind following some slack defensive work . Heath did have chances from Keveena Mosen and Jo D’Ambra and with 30 mins remaining Mel Broome was added to the attack in an attempt to get back into the game . Although in the last 30 minutes Heath performed better Down scored once more with a long distance drive and Huggett drew applause from the Down supporters for some well judged saves.
To sum up Heath failed to match their excellent performance of the previous week and need to be more positive and determined in defence . Heaths player of the match was keeper Huggett.
