South East Counties Womens Football League - Div 1[W] - 20th Nov 2005

Milford & Witley 0 Haywards Heath Town 2nds 3 [ Yoli Rietmann, Natalie Trend, Kim Donno]

Heath knew this was a game they had to win, but were below strength with the 1st having to call upon keeper Celia Huggett and defender Louise Creasey. However with the 1sts game being called off at the last minute these players showed great commitment, together with Kim Donno, in making the 35 mile dash across to support their teammates , although not arriving until 10 minutes before halftime - a hectic start for Manager Sarah Miller Knowing that keeper Huggett was on her way Heath started with 10 players [despite having two subs] and had to work hard, and played extremely well. Milford pressed on Heaths defence which resulted in a disallowed goal due to one of their players attempting to do a Maradona ‘hand of god’ goal. Stand in goalie Gemma Paull made some good saves to keep a clean sheet. Heath became a bit more determined to show what they were capable of and had a few good shots from strikers Natalie Trend, Keveena Mosen and wingers Mica Saunders (Player of the match) and Francesca Pritlove. After about 20 minutes midfielder Yoli Rietmann caught a volley perfectly straight over Milfords keepers head and into the goal to put Heath ahead . With 10 minutes of the half remaining keeper Huggett arrived and Heath finally had 11 players with Paull restored to her rightful position. After half time, Creasey replaced Louise Rice in midfield, and Heath continued their attack on Milford, with yet more chances put to waste, and Heaths defence of Rebecca Smallman, Julie Hawthorne, Gemma Paull and Alison Field cutting down any kind of attack, and clearing the ball with ease. With Beverly Loftus replacing Rebecca Smallman, and Donno replacing Fran Pritlove, Heath revived their attack, one resulting in Mosen setting up Trend to slot the ball in the back of the net. Donno also went on to score a goal through sheer determination and an error from Milfords defence. A good result from everyone, with unused subs Jo Stevenson and Jo D’Ambra showing really excellent spirit in giving great support to the team despite their disappointment on not getting a game.
