Haywards Heath 2nds 3 [ Mel Rooney, Yoli Rietmann, Keveena Mosen] Woking Reserves 4
What a match with 1 red card, 2 yellow cards for Wokings players, and Wokings manager being given a yellow card and seven goals in total, obviously one of Heaths most exciting games of the season so far.
A poor start to the match saw Heath fall to an early goal by Woking. With the team given a kick start, we attacked from the re-start with a perfect ball being placed through the middle, with striker Natalie Trend in a 1 on 1 with Woking keeper and being completely wiped out. A straight red for the keeper, and one of Wokings players having to replace her in goal. Bad news for Heath as although Trend played on for a bit she was replaced by Del Cook due to an injury to her ankle. Woking seemed really up for it, and placed another attack on Heath and due to a misunderstanding between defenders Woking scored another easy goal and Heath were 2-0 down. A couple of Wokings players got annoyed with the ref earning themselves both yellow cards. Heath seemed to stay asleep and with Player of the Match Mel Rooney trying to keep the team alive along with Keveena Mosen and Yoli Rietmann. With a few chances missed by Heath and wingers Fran Pritlove and Mica Saunders producing some good runs, and just when Heaths game looked on the up, another goal resulted from a Woking attack. Heaths heads were down and it looked like there was no return until a fantastic goal from Mosen from outside the penalty box flew over Wokings keepers head. Half time and 3-1 down.
The second half started with Heath meaning business. With defender Beverly Loftus replaced by Emma Burkitt and Mica Saunders replaced by Lou Rice, Heath were determined to get at least a draw. With a good start from Rooney, and determination led to Woking keeper making a mistake and Rooney slotting the ball into the back of the goal. From kick off Woking attacked but the defence of Rebecca Smallman, Julie Hawthorne and Gemma Yates and goalie Gemma Paull kept them at bay and kept the goal score as it is. Another attack by Heath resulted in the ball being played to Rietmann just outside the penalty area and being perfectly hit over the keepers head, finally Heath were level. At times it looked like both teams could’ve scored again and with a lot of injury time to be played Heath gave away a silly free kick, which unfortunately resulted in Woking scoring with the last kick of the game. A huge disappointment for the whole team who had fought so hard to get back level with Woking. A result that Heath deserved at least one point from.
