South East Counties Womens Football League - Div 1[W] - 30th Oct 2005
Lewes 2nds 1 Haywards Heath Town 2nds 4 [Natalie Trend 2, Keveena Mosen, Yoli Rietmann ]
Heaths first win of the season started well with Heath putting the pressure on Lewes. After 10 minutes Keveena Mosen , Heaths “Player of the Match” had her first shot of many, putting it just wide of the upright, 2 minutes later another shot forcing the keeper to make a good save. The next phase of play resulted in Managers player of the Match Natalie Trend making a breakaway run from midfield and having a shot which just went wide. The next shot from Heath was from midfielder Lou Creasey it was well struck shot from 30 yards which again forced the Lewes keeper to save, at this point in the game the Lewes keeper was keeping them in the game but it would only be a matter of time before Heath scored. This followed by yet another shot by Mosen this time a header which went just over the crossbar. Lewes then started to get into the game as they had a couple of breaks which were well dealt with by the Heath defence with some good tackles made by Bev Loftus who hung up her boots 18 months ago but returning to play again. Mica Saunders then replaced Jo Stevenson on the left wing and then proceeded to have a shot after 1 minute which went just wide. On 34 mins Keveena Mosen passed to Natalie Trend who shot a goal lobbing the keeper who this time could not get a hand to it and it hit the back of the net to put Heath ahead . From the restart Heath now full of confidence passed the ball round well resulting in Mosen having a shot this time from 6 yards blasting the ball past the Lewes keeper a well deserved second goal in the 36 minute. Before the half time whistle Mica Saunders hit the crossbar and Rietmann hit the inside of the upright only for the ball to roll along the front of the goal line.
The second half started off the same way the first half ended within a minute of the restart Louise Rice had shot at goal trying to lob the keeper which just cleared the crossbar. This followed by Lewes breaking up the other end and winning a corner which Heath were not able to clear and resulted in another Lewes corner which again was not cleared. Lewes then had what was their only shot on target which gave keeper Natasha Sole, playing an excellent debut ,no chance as it flew past her. This spurred Heath back into action as Trend picked up the ball on the halfway line and ran past 2 Lewes defenders, leaving them standing, then one on one with the keeper Trend blasted the ball in the back of the net. The next goal followed shortly after this with Rietmann beating the keeper with an excellent 30 yard shot. This followed by Creasey having 2 shots from 30 yards one forcing a save and the other going just over. In the closing minutes of the game Lewes won another corner which was cleared off the line by Paull. The play went straight up the other end and Rice had a double shot at goal the second shot beat the keeper who picked up the ball at least half a yard over the goal line but the Lewes linesman decided it wasn’t a goal despite the fact that Heath were already celebrating! The game finished 1 – 4 (should have been 1 – 5) a well deserved victory and a much improved performance from Heath.
