HEATHS TEENAGE STARS SCORE 3

Haywards Hh 3rds 3 [Hayley Plummer, Emma Skilton, Natasha Sole] Hastings Res 5

Playing against 3rd placed Hastings Res Heath 3rds put on probably their best display of the season and stunned Hastings by taking the lead midway through the half when Jane Quilley put Hayley Plummer through to skilfully lob the keeper. Heaths joy was short lived however for within a minute Hastings had levelled the scores with a shot from outside the area giving keeper Helen Bashford no chance, and less than 3 minutes later Hastings went ahead from a narrow angle. Heaths early strategy of playing five in midfield with Natasha Sole as lone striker was then amended, Emma Skilton then leaving her midfield role to join Sole up front but despites having chances to score, with both Sole and Skilton prominent, Heath went further behind with 10 mins of the half remaining following a poor goal kick.
Heath came out in the 2nd half with the slope against them but after early Hastings pressure , and good work by keeper Bashford, Sole nearly reduced deficit , her shot being blocked by the advancing keeper, however shortly afterwards Skilton gathered the ball from a Hastings goalkick and skilfully beat the keeper to make the score 2-3. Once again Hastings retaliated quickly to score from close range . To Heaths credit they refused to lie down and were rewarded when Clare Hewitt’s through ball gave Sole {Heaths “Player of the Match” } the chance to score her 1st for the Club.
At the back Heaths Captain Hayley Miller made many well timed interceptions but in the dying minutes Hastings added a 5th in a goalmouth scramble, but nothing could take away Heaths pleasure at scoring 3 goals for the first time this season., especially against such good opposition.
