Haywards Heaths Town 3rds 0 Rottingdean 9 - 12th Feb 2006
Heath 3rds managed to get this game against top of table Rottingdean played after Club Secretary Peter Hickman worked hard to clear surface water in the north goalmouth to dispel fears from the Referee that the conditions might prove dangerous. 2nd from bottom Heath were under no illusions about the task ahead but nevertheless were eager to play despite the conditions, and within minutes found themselves 2 goals down to some very quick and eager Rottingdean forwards. Although Heath put together some good moves there was no doubting that Rottingdean, with quite a few players having experience at a much higher level, were going to emerge winners by a good margin, and at halftime Heath were 5 nil down. In the 2nd half Heath worked hard with the slope against them and every player should be congratulated in giving their all until the final whistle. Jade Bubb, believed to be the Leagues youngest player, did well in only her 2nd full game whilst Jane Quilley [one of the “most mature” players in the League ] was nominated as Heaths “player of the match” finishing the game covered in mud from head to toe !. Captain Hayley Miller did well in defence whilst forward Sherry Goodchild showed many good touches when she came on in the 2nd half.
