Sussex County FA Womens League Div 1 - 19th March 2006
Haywards Heath 3rds 0 Whitehawk Res 8
This game was nowhere near as one sided as the scoreline would suggest with 6 goals coming in 15 minutes between the 13th and 28th minutes of the first half following the early injury to Heaths Emma Skilton . However once Heath reorganized to cope with Whitehawks style of play Whitehawk were held for the remained of the half with the back four of Jade Bubb [continuing her improved performances] Hayley Miller, Christina Cater and Eve Todhunter working valiantly whilst up front Natasha Sole and Sherry Goodchild combined together well.
The second half looked like being problematic for Heath with Whitehawk scoring twice within the 1st ten minutes with long range shots from outside the area, giving keeper Helen Bashford no chance. Heath then once again battled hard to deny Whitehawk and were rewarded by denying Whitehawk any further goals in the remaining 35 mins although it required the post to come to Heaths assistance on one occasions. Shortly after coming on Nicki Cook gave Sherry Goodchild Heaths best chance of scoring. Clare Hewitt was Whitehawk choice as Heaths “Player of the Match” but it would have been no surprise if they had chosen Captain Hayley Miller or Natasha Sole although it would be unfair to single out any player in a game where Heaths heads refused to drop despite the scoreline.
